Description

ComBEfive is a pentavalent combination vaccine containing Diphtheria toxoid, Tetanus toxoid, killed Bordetella pertussis bacilli whole cell, Hepatitis B surface antigen (rDNA) and Haemophilus influenzae Type B conjugate vaccine.

This combination vaccine is administered for active immunization against Diphtheria, Tetanus, Pertussis (whooping cough), Hepatitis B and Haemophilus influenzae type b infections (meningitis, septicaemia, cellulitis, arthritis, epiglottitis, etc)

Immunization guideline:

The recommended dose (0.5 ml) of the vaccine must be administered.

DTP-HepB-Hib vaccine can be given in a 3 dose schedule at 6, 10 and 14 weeks after the birth dose of Hep B vaccine. Pentavalent vaccines are not recommended for DTP Booster doses.

Contraindications

Known hypersensitivity to any component of the vaccine, or to subjects having shown signs of hypersensitivity after previous administration of diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, hepatitis B or Hib vaccines. ComBEfive is contra-indicated if the child has experienced an encephalopathy of unknown nature, occurring within 7 days following previous vaccination with pertussis containing vaccine. In these circumstances the vaccination course should be continued with diphtheria, tetanus, Hib and hepatitis B vaccines
