Synflorix

Description

Synflorix, a Pneumococcal conjugate vaccine is a 10-valent Pneumococcal polysaccharide conjugate vaccine indicated for active immunization of infants and children from 6 weeks up to 5 years of age against Streptococcus pneumoniae serotypes 1, 4, 5, 6B, 7F, 9V, 14,18C, 19F and 23F and invasive disease caused by these serotypes (including sepsis,meningitis, bacteraemic pneumonia, pleural empyema and bacteraemia).

IMMUNIZATION GUIDELINE

The recommended immunization series to ensure optimal protection consists of four doses each of 0.5 mL at 2,4,6 and 12-15 months. First dose may be given as early as 6 weeks of age. An interval of at least 1 month between the doses is recommended. A booster dose is recommended at least 6 months after the last primary dose.

Contraindications

Synflorix should not be administered to children with known hypersensitivity to any component of the vaccine.
