Pedvax HIB
Description
Pedvax HIB, a Haemophilus b Conjugate Vaccine is a highly purified capsular polysaccharide of Hib bacteria covalently linked to an outer membrane protein complex of the Neisseria meningitidis serogroup B.
This vaccine is administered for active immunization against Haemophilus influenzae type b infections (meningitis, septicaemia, cellulitis, arthritis, epiglottitis, etc) in children aged from 2 to 71 months. Pedvax HIB should not be used in infants <6 weeks of age. Pevdax HIB will not protect against diseases caused by other types of Haemophilus influenzae, or meningitis caused by other organisms.
Immunization guideline:
Pedvax HIB is recommended to be given as 2 primary doses of 0.5 ml each, starting at minimum age of 2 months, followed by the second dose after at least 2 months gap. If the primary vaccination is completed before 12 months of age, a booster dose is required to be given at 12-15 months of age. Children 15 months of age or older who have not been vaccinated earlier should be given only one dose of the HIB vaccine.

Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to any component of the vaccine. Persons who develop symptoms of hypersensitivity after an injection should not receive further injections of the vaccine.
