after one day of Varricella (Chickenpox) and MMR 2 vaccination at the age 15-16 months, 15-20 red relatively bigger rashes found after one day of vaccination. Rashes found on inner portion of lips and tongue also. After 3-4 days small rashes spread on faces, hands etc. Why? What is the treatment? Curable or not? Please reply immediately.
It is normal to get few rashes after both attenuated Live varicella virus and MMR vaccination. This can happen anywhere from 3rd day to 28th day of vaccination. It is not a full blown infection but a process in generating immunity. Around 5 % of children show these kind of symptoms after vaccination. Rashes will go away by themselves in few days. Keep your baby dry, clean and hydrated.
But if you have observed rashes immediately after vaccination and if child shows difficulty in breathing, swelling of the lips and extreme dullness or weakness. It may be an allergic reaction which is a rare phenomenon. You must visit the pediatrician today.
