Sir/Madam
I need your help. For my kid born on 07.05.2018, 10th week vaccines Quadravac + IPV + OPV were given on 18.07.2018 and after a gap of 1 week Injection PREVENAR 13 and ROTATEQ drops were given on 25.07.2018. Now I have read on ACIP website that Live virus vaccines should be administrated same day or after gap of 4 weeks. I am worried about the effectiveness of vaccines given to my kid.
Dear Parent,
Quadrovax, Prevnar13 and IPV vaccines comes under the category of toxoids, inactivated, recombinant subunit, and polysaccharide vaccines and they do not interact with each other or live vaccines when given together or even after 1 week. Therefore, they can be administered on single visit or at any interval before or after receiving the other vaccines. This will not interfere with the immune response of any of them. The vaccines should be administered at different sites using the standard recommended dose. So, Quadrovax, Prevnar 13 and IPV will be effective in your baby’s case.
However, if we give live vaccines like Oral Polio and Rotavirus vaccine together or before following 2 weeks minimum gap, 2nd vaccine will stand ineffective and dose should be repeated. Rotavirus vaccination should always be given ahead of OPV drops for proper immunity. So, your baby should be given additional dose of Rotavirus vaccine. Last dose should be completed by age 8 months.
