Hello Sir/Madam,
I have recently vaccinated my child on her 14W schedule. She has been administered EasySix + Prevenar + Rotavac. My Question is,
- Since EasySix contains Hep B & Polio, my doctor said I don’t have to vaccinate her for the next coming vaccination of Hep B & Polio. But as per schedule she only has to take it when she is 6M (24W). But she has already taken it in her 14W. Will it cause any problems or reduce the effectiveness of the vaccine since she has taken it too early?
- Is there any issue if we switch between OPV and IPV? At birth she was given OPV (0 dose) and then she was administered IPV through EasySix thereafter. Now the OPV (1 dose) is coming up when she turns 6M. Should I continue administering OPV again since she was following IPV?
Thanks

Dear parent,
Your child has been vaccinated on schedule. Don’t worry. It is a common practice to administer combination vaccines for primary doses at 6, 10 and 14 weeks. Schedule is somewhat differently followed when combination vaccines are given. It is absolutely normal and does not cause any harm to the baby. Ipv is now given for all the primary doses and OPV can be given also.
Hep B schedule
-
- 1st dose of monovalent Hep B at Birth, followed by 2nd dose at 6 weeks and 3rd dose at 6 months of age (2nd and 3rd dose can be monovalent/pentavalent)
- According to latest 2019 IAP update, it is mandatory to give Hep B dose within 24 hrs of age of the baby
- Alternatively, 3 primary doses of pentavalent or hexavalent vaccine, including Hep B at 6, 10 and 14 weeks after birth dose
Polio vaccine schedule
- Birth dose of OPV is a must
- Complete replacement of OPV by IPV can be done for primary schedule
- bOPV can be given for all the primary doses at 6, 10 and 14 weeks of age only if IPV is not available or feasible
- Additional doses of OPV on all pulse polio days for children till 5 years of age
- Booster dose of IPV at 12-18 months of age if primary doses of IPV are given
