My Paediatric has told me to either take painless (hexaxim) or painful (unnamed) for 1st 6 weeks vaccine.
Pediatric says IPV is available only in Hexaxim with her and in the painful vaccine she has no option but to skip the IPV as its not available. Can somebody suggest a painful option which also contains IPV? Does Hexaxim come in painful option?
It is better to take the regular DTwP containing combination vaccine like CombEfive, easy 5, Pentavac etc. rather than painless vaccine Hexaxim. They give better immunity and should be the preferred choice for vaccination over the painless ones in the primary immunization doses at 6, 10 and 14 weeks. If the IPV is not available with your doctor, please go to some other clinic or may be a government hospital. Scarcity of IPV should not be an excuse to administer the painless vaccine to babies. Painless vaccines like pentaxim were banned for many years and now Hexaxim is trying to capture the market. EASY 6 Vaccine is the only regular vaccine (painful) containing IPV. It was launched earlier this year but hardly available in the market. You can ask your doctor for its availability.
